Full Release Date

What Mega Crit has actually said about the Slay the Spire 2 version 1.0 date and how long Early Access may last.

Quick answer

Slay the Spire 2 does not have an announced version 1.0 release date. It entered Early Access on March 5, 2026. Mega Crit estimates roughly one to two years in Early Access, but explicitly avoids firm roadmap dates, so that range is a development estimate rather than a launch promise.

Does the estimate mean 2027 or 2028?

Counting one to two years from March 2026 points loosely toward 2027–2028, but Mega Crit has not announced either year as the version 1.0 window. The Steam answer is intentionally approximate and says the game will remain in Early Access until it feels ready.

The studio's April roadmap also contains no dates. It describes ongoing balance, compatibility, quality-of-life, art, audio, and bug work plus larger content such as alternate acts, a new character, experimental modes, and a true ending.

What is planned for version 1.0?

The Steam Early Access section says the full game is planned to contain more gameplay content, a true ending, additional modes, improved balance, more fixes, broader hardware compatibility, upgraded visual effects, and more languages.

Some of that work can arrive before 1.0. Early Access patches are already adding and changing content, so the roadmap should not be read as a checklist whose final item reveals the release date.

What has already shipped during Early Access?

The roadmap is moving while the game remains in Early Access. Major Update #2 already delivered the Bestiary and Steam Workshop support, alongside a new Act 3 boss and broad balance and technical changes.

Completed roadmap items do not create a hidden 1.0 countdown. Mega Crit says it chooses work by impact and avoids firm dates, so remaining features can be reordered, revised, or delivered across multiple updates.

Signals that would make a release window credible

  • A dated announcement from Mega Crit or the official Steam news feed.
  • A store-page change that explicitly labels a version 1.0 date rather than repeating the Early Access estimate.
  • A roadmap update that identifies the true ending and final content pass as release candidates.
  • Platform announcements alone are not proof of the PC 1.0 date; ports are listed as farther-future work.

How to follow the real date

Follow the Steam news feed or Mega Crit's own news page. Until one of those channels announces a date, store listings and countdown pages that show an exact day are estimates or placeholders.
